WZWZ Z92.5

Is running ads about how supposedly "awful" satellite radio is. Please. If they provided anything at Z that I wanted to listen to, satellite radio wouldn't be necessary, now would it?

For that matter, WZWZ itself is "satellite" radio after about 7 or 8 each night, until you hear Allan & Amber the next morning. That whole time, they carry an ABC Radio Networks service (delivered by satellite).

It's actually worse than you think. They are owned by Mid-America radio, which does the same thing in Peru, Wabash and Logansport with their stations. If you call and ask, they'll tell you that they are "always live." They just won't tell you that they aren't always local. Some guy in a booth (who knows where... maybe in Texas or something) is broadcasting top 40 in his booth, the guy in the next booth is doing hit country, the guy in the next booth is doing 80's... and all the people in north central Indiana are just ignorantly listening along...

It stinks!

I used to work in broadcasting, and the whole ad campaign against satellite radio reminds me of how panicked the cable companies were when DSS finally gave them some real competition. They had been raping people for years, and they found it very difficult to deal with real competition. I also happen to know the owner of Mid America Radio, and his ads saying, "There are just some things you shouldn't have to pay for..." are at best misleading. Believe me, if he could've found a way to charge people to listen, he would've done so years ago! I love my satellite radio, and I'm amused by the hysteria being emitted by stations like WZWZ (or so I've heard....you see, I rarely listen to terrestrial radio anymore).
